  Ibrahim El Dessouki (b. 1969 Cairo) is a prolific contemporary painter and former fine arts professor living and working in Cairo. With an active studio practice spanning over three decades El Dessouki’s practice draws heavily from the traditions of the British school of modern painters and the rich arts and cultural heritage of Egypt and the Arab world from the ancient to the modern. Hailing from an artistic and intellectual family El Dessouki was exposed to fine art, cinema, history, Arabic, English and Russian literature and sciences from an early age. As such his practice often combines several cultural and intellectual references and artistic painterly techniques to comment on the social and political issues of modern and contemporary Egypt and the world at large.

مواليد ١٩٦٩، تخرج من قسم التصوير بكلية الفنون الجميلة بالقاهرة ١٩٩٢ ودرس بها حتي تفرغ للتصوير عام ٢٠١٧.

يصيغ استخدامه للألوان الزيتية اسلوبه الذي يعتمد علي تجاور اختلافات الالوان والملامس والطبقات في تجانس او تضاد، وعلي الارتكاز علي تطويع المساحات الايجابية والسلبية لخلق حيوية في نسيج العمل وغني في مكوناته في مقابل المشهد الساكن .

تتنوع موضوعاته ما بين تكوينات الاشخاص والوجوه والطبيعة الصامتة والمناظر ، ليجمعهم انتماؤهم واستلهامهم للروح المصرية القديمة والمعاصرة ، في احالات واشارات قد تعلو او تخفت نبرتها. حصل علي جائزة الدولة ( مصر ) للتفوق في الفنون ٢٠١٩.
